The Ecstatic Tour Stop @ the Sonar

So me and Tim, better known now as Martian Lewis, went to the Ecstatic Tour show down the Sonar on Wednesday night. We got there an hour early so we could get front row and only two other people were there in front of us. A lady with a big phat donkey ass and her son. It must've been big phat donkey ass night at the Sonar, because there were a lot of big phat donkey asses.

When we finally got in, we had to wait a whole hour (doors opened at 7:30) for someone to perform. The first performance was by Soul Cannon, a hip-hop/jazz band from Baltimore.









Soul Cannon was really energetic and they were a live band, so that helped. I'm not talking about the other opening acts because they really weren't worth talking about. Yup.

Jay Electronica came out and opened up with "Dear Moleskine", his Just Blaze produced track that was teased with a trailer. Jay Electronica was high and probably tipsy and you could tell. He also told us that he smoked two blunts with his DJ before he came on.





Some people complained about his intoxicated state, but fuck them, it was fun. He lip-synched an opera song, told us about his wager with his DJ about women liking getting choked during sex and did a rendition of "Give It To Me Baby".





However, through bouts of non-hip-hop entertainment, he still managed to perform like six songs, including fan-favorites "Exhibit A" and "Dimethytryptamine".





Talib Kweli came out next and rocked it, of course. Before he performed, it was interesting to note that they played "Because I Got High" by Afroman and everyone in the crowd knew the words. In the middle of Talib's set, someone proceeded to smoke marijuana in the crowd.








After Kweli's performance and a fifteen-minute wait, Flaco Bey himself came out, dressed like he was about to drive a train, and proceeded to play the drums while performing "Supermagic" off of the Ecstatic.







He also performed some songs from True Magic and did a cover of "Billie Jean".










Then, Talib Kweli came on stage and they performed some Black Star classics.








Mos Def also spoke on the Kanye situation, stating that Kanye was his best friend and he "didn't put spit on her, he didn't put his hands on that broad" and that everyone was blowing this out of proportion. Also, he said that Jay Leno should get "smacked in his banana-looking face" for asking Kanye what he would think that his mom would think about his actions.

All around it was fun night, blah blah. Look, it's late, I posted pictures, I'm uploading videos later.

So, I went to a N*E*R*D/Common concert

It was fun as hell. Me and my brother got to Rams Head Live at like 4:30 so we could get the "Rock Star Entry". "Rock Star Entry" is basically boring as shit if you can't drink. You sit around and wait until it's time for you to go into the stage area and wait for the show to start. Surprisingly, there were no opening acts and N*E*R*D were the first to perform(awesome!).



As you can see, I was in the front row. Fam-Lay shook my hand when he came out(awesome!) and then they performed Anti-Matter. They also did Brain and a medley of songs from "In Search Of. . ."(awesome!). Their guitarist was awesome. He banged out the solo for "Sooner or Later" with ease.





They brought dudes on stage when they started performing "Rock Star" and "Spaz" which I couldn't catch because I was busy trying to get noticed. Meh, whatever. They also pulled ladies on the stage for "She Wants to Move" and "Everyone Nose".



Good for him!



That's the girl that me and my brother helped get notice so that Pharrell would let her on stage. She's cool. She was also underaged D=



Nonetheless, there were a lot of chicks on stage.

Oh, and Shae Haley had on the shirt that I'm buying.



Lucky bastard.


Afterwards, we waited, like, 45 minutes while they got Common's set ready. It had the set-up of the interior of a club/bar.



Nobody wants a Zune! Well, he came out, started off performing "Announcement" after the little interlude. He then interviewed the random chicks he picked to sit at his bar.



He also pulled a girl out of the crowd who's name was "Love". Really. He then proceeded to make innuendo about wanting to "be deep in Love". Tuesdai wouldn't like that, Common.




Either way, Common ripped it.









Well, that's all your getting for now. It takes long as FFFUUUUUUCCCKKK to load videos on youtube for me, so I might get maybe four or five videos up tomorrow.

So, I went to an 88 Keys concert

Not really. It was actually a Dilated Peoples concert, but we only stayed for 88 Keys. We would've stayed for Alchemist, too, but he was a no-show (was that a pun?). When we got their, it was very sparse, being that Rams Head Live is a pretty big place. Being that this is the third concert I've been to this year, it's the largest stage I've seen.



The first act was Mambo Sauce from D.C. They're on the come-up and their single "Welcome to D.C." broke the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart and they said that the video will be on VH1 soon. Go-go music just started growing on my recently, so I enjoyed the show. Go-go is way better live, and I was paying attention to the guitarists because I'm learning how to play bass, so it was entertaining. The highlight, though, was fine ass Yendy Brown. I'm sorry if I didn't get a picture of the other members, but Yendy is hot. You can't really see her face, but I don't care, because I did and I'm happy.

Then, following not to long afterwards was the man we came to see, 88 Keys. If I wouldn't have heard about 88 Keys from my man Malcolm Maximillion, then I would have from Way More Fresher, because $port is a huge fan. We didn't expect Keys to be the second opening act of the show, but that was cool anyway. We saw his DJ Syn City first. She's hot. And Asian. I'd beat, but I digress. 88 Keys first came out, and I really couldn't tell you the name of any of the songs he performed except Viagra (Stay up). The highlight of the show, though, was when he taunted us by saying "I got this song with Kanye, and he's here to perform it with me". We all knew he was bullshitting, but we wanted to see what kind of shit he would pull. Turns out, he came on stage and did a pretty accurate Kanye impression while he performed his verse on Viagra. He performed his last few songs and made his exit, as we did also, because Alchemist wasn't there and, honestly, we didn't really mess with Dilated Peoples like that.
